Following the Indo-Russian cultural pact that was sealed in October last year, several Russian films are expected to hit theatres in India, the latest one being the superhero action extravaganza, 'Guardians - The Superheroes'

Following the Indo-Russian cultural pact that was sealed in October last year, several Russian films are expected to hit theatres in India, the latest one being the superhero action extravaganza, Guardians - The Superheroes. Directed by Sarik Andreasyan, the Armenian who has helmed hits like Earthquake and American Heist, the film stars Russian actors Alina Lanina, Sebastien Sisak, Sanzhar Madiyev and Anton Pampushnyy.

Murli Chhatwani of Muviwale Entertainment, the firm that has acquired the film for its theatrical release in India, says, "We have received a great response for the trailer and will release the film in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu on February 24."

Jiten Hemdev of Star Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the company that bought the rights from the Russian Production house for India, says, "The film was in news has been creating a lot of positive buzz. So, we decided to bring it here for our Indian audience."

Set in the Cold War period, the film revolves around a team of superheroes who were created in a secret lab and the manner in which they come together to save the world from a nuclear disaster. The superhero squad consists of four characters, each of which has been conceived with a unique superhuman power.

Touted as one of the biggest superhero films internationally, the film will release in approximately 50 countries including USA, UK, Germany, China and South Africa.
A sequel has already been green-lit.
