Avengers: Endgame Encore has added more than nostalgia to the film's return to theatres. The re-release features four new scenes across its ending and post-credits sequence, each dropping clues about the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and setting up the multiverse crisis expected to play out in Avengers: Doomsday.
The additions revisit familiar characters while introducing new developments around Loki, Bruce Banner, Doctor Doom and the TVA. Together, they turn the ending of Endgame into a bridge between the Infinity Saga and Marvel's Multiverse Saga.
The first added sequence takes viewers back to Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter after their dance at the end of Endgame. As the couple settles into their peaceful life, a knock interrupts the moment. Peggy answers the door and is greeted by Loki. When she asks, "Can I help you?", Loki responds, "No, but I can help you. Both of you." Steve then emerges from hiding and is stunned to find Loki at their doorstep.
The unexpected encounter suggests that Steve and Peggy's seemingly quiet life could be connected to the larger timeline crisis. Loki's appearance also adds another layer to the complicated relationship between the God of Mischief and the timelines he has become increasingly connected to.
The second sequence shifts to Bruce Banner, who is being kept inside a military facility located deep underground. Banner records a video log discussing his first Hulk incident in more than a decade, following the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He explains that he has chosen isolation to prevent another transformation and is working on an experimental gamma-radiation suppressor.
His experiment is interrupted when the lights begin flickering and the camera glitches. Doctor Doom appears and tells Banner, "Doctor Banner, I'm here to collect you." Banner begins transforming as the camera falls, leaving behind glowing green Latverian symbols.
The third scene returns to the TVA, where Mobius, Casey and Ouroboros monitor a growing multiversal crisis. Casey reveals that Earth-10005, associated with the Fox X-Men universe, is about to collide with another reality.
As more reports arrive, the number of universes facing destruction continues to rise. Among those marked destroyed are Earth-400083, linked to Eric Bana's Hulk, Earth-15886 from Fantastic Four and Earth-82111 from the What If...? Captain Carter universe.
With the situation escalating, Ouroboros delivers the ominous conclusion, "The multiverse is collapsing."
The final added scene gives new meaning to the familiar metallic hammering heard during the original Endgame credits. This time, the sound accompanies glimpses of Doctor Doom forging his metallic mask, creating a dark parallel with Tony Stark's iconic construction of the Mark I armour.
With Loki appearing in Steve's timeline, Doom targeting Banner and entire realities being destroyed, the four additions position Endgame Encore as a direct lead-in to Marvel's next multiverse chapter. Avengers: Endgame Encore is currently in theatres.
