Margot Robbie quietly changes her surname almost a decade after marriage with Tom Ackerley

Actress Margot Robbie has made a quiet change to her name almost a decade after marrying British film producer Tom Ackerley. Notably, although Margot has changed her name on company records, she will continue to use her previous name professionally.

Margot Robbie changes surname

According to a Page Six report. Margot's name is now listed as Margot Ackerley in corporate records filed with the UK's Companies House for LuckyChap Entertainment. The production company was co-founded by Margot along with her husband.

The filing was reportedly received on Monday and mentions her name as Margot Elise Ackerley instead of Margot Elise Robbie. She had continued using her maiden name in the company's records even after she became a director in May 2015. That being said, she is likely to retain her maiden name Margot Robbie professionally.

Margot and Tom, together with Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr launched LuckyChap in 2014. The company has backed films including I, Tonya, Birds of Prey, Barbie and Saltburn, since its launch.

They had reportedly become close friends and even ended up becoming roommates. After dating for three years, they tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia in December 2016. Their professional collaboration has also been a major part of their journey together.

Nearly 10 years after their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child, a son, in October 2024. Interestingly, despite their high-profile careers, Robbie and Ackerley have often kept details about their personal lives out of the public eye.

Back in 2016, during an interview with Vogue, Margot opened up about her relationship saying, "I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don't make it weird, Margot. Don't be stupid and tell him that you like him.'"
