There is barely anything in common between the story of a Malegaon boy-turned-filmmaker and a sci-fi horror set in the future. And that's exactly the wide range of stories Adarsh Gourav wants to chase. After leading Superboys of Malegaon, the actor will be seen in Alien: Earth, a spin-off of Ridley Scott's popular Alien movie franchise. On May 14, the makers unveiled the Hulu series' first look that sees Gourav alongside Timothy Oliphant, Sydney Chandler, and Kit Young, among others.
The series may be months away from its August release, but for Gourav, 2025 is already shaping up according to his dreams. "I have gone from telling the story of a man making films in Malegaon to stepping into a world of intergalactic fear. The leap is surreal, but it's also the result of consciously choosing stories that excite and scare me. Ridley Scott's films had a huge influence on me growing up, so stepping into the Alien franchise feels [incredible]," says the actor.

Being part of a global franchise can be thrilling. But Gourav, who broke out with The White Tiger in 2021, highlights that it's not about chasing big-ticket projects. "The key has always been balance - between the commercial and the personal, the familiar and the unexpected. There's a growing appetite among people to consume untapped genres, and I'm excited to be part of such projects both in India and internationally." He adds that career longevity comes from range, not repetition. "Every young actor must have the courage to try genre-pushing [material]. If you want your work to travel, your choices have to as well."
