Sydney Sweeney, Devil Wears Prada 2 cast
As The Devil Wears Prada 2 gears up for its theatrical release on May 1, the excitement around the film is steadily building, and fans are eager to know more. While many new characters are entering the story, some surprise cameos were also shot. While some made it to the final cut, others were removed. As per reports, Sydney Sweeney's three-minute cameo has been cut from the sequel as it didn't structurally fit with the rest of the scenes.
According to reports in Entertainment Weekly, Sydney Sweeney had filmed a brief cameo for the sequel. Her scene was placed early in the film and reportedly featured her playing herself - a celebrity client being styled at the Dior offices, where Emily Charlton, now a powerful executive, is introduced in her new role.
The sequence was meant to expand on Emily's professional world, showcasing her high-profile responsibilities in the fashion industry. Sweeney's cameo, said to run for around three minutes, showed her interacting with Emily while being dressed for an event. It was designed as a stylish and engaging introduction to Emily's elevated status post-Runway.
However, despite the scene being filmed and reportedly well executed, it did not make the final cut. The report claims that the scene did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence, and that the team was grateful for her participation, making the decision to remove it a difficult one.
Twenty years after their iconic turns as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel - Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway magazine in 20th Century Studios' The Devil Wears Prada 2, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation.
The film is directed by David Frankel, written by Aline Brosh McKenna, produced by Wendy Finerman, and executive produced by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and Aline Brosh McKenna.
Lady Gaga is set to make an appearance in the film and has also recorded a Doechii-assisted track, "Runway," for the movie's soundtrack.
On the work front, Sydney Sweeney recently returned to the project that launched her to superstardom, appearing in the long-awaited third season of Euphoria on HBO.
