Los Angeles: 'X Men' director Bryan Singer has been sued for allegedly sexually abusing an underage boy in 1999. In the lawsuit filed in federal court in Hawaii yesterday, the plaintiff named Michael Egan claimed that the director, 48, sexually molested him at a house in Encino when he was 17-year-old, reported Ace Showbiz.

Egan, who was an aspiring actor and model back then, alleged that Bryan provided him alcoholic drinks and drugs including cocaine. "Hollywood has a problem with the sexual exploitation of children.

This is the first of many cases I will be filing to give these victims a voice and to expose the issue," Egan's lawyer Jeff Herman said in a statement released to media. The victim is now seeking unspecified amount in damages for charges of intentional infliction of emotional distress, battery, assault and invasion of privacy by unreasonable intrusion.

Shortly after the news Bryan's lawyer commented on the issue. "We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit. It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan's new movie is about to open in a few weeks," the lawyer said.

The director's upcoming project 'X Men: Days of Future Past' is set to be released next month.
