Actress Goldie Hawn says she never wanted to be a star and became ill with depression when her dreams of domesticity were shattered.

The 66-year-old Hollywood A-lister said as a young dancer she was happy to live a simple life and get married, reported Daily Express. "I was pulled out of the chorus line too soon. I didn't want to do anything else.

I was so excited to be there. I was away from home and I think I saw the trajectory of my life was going to be dancing. "Maybe I would get a commercial or two to make more money but I never believed I was going to be a star.

I was fearful. It was not something to aspire to, to become well-known and be a star...," she said. Hawn, most famous for her role in the comedy "Private Benjamin" and known for playing the ditsy blonde in films, said she has never felt the stereotype limiting.

"That is a big part of me, it still is. It's not gone away. I think what we're missing in our world is a little bit more of that. "I think we should embrace that part of us, that abandonment, that fun, that joy. I think it has been a great gift and I've honoured it all my life. I never looked at it and thought that it was a hindrance in any way."u00a0
