Robert Pattinson has confirmed that filming for The Batman Part II has resumed after a temporary production pause, with the actor set to return to the set soon. The actor also praised filmmaker Steven Soderbergh for stepping in to support director Matt Reeves as he dealt with an urgent family matter.
Speaking to GamesRadarplus, Pattinson welcomed Soderbergh's involvement, describing his decision to help Reeves complete the DC sequel as a generous gesture. The actor also expressed confidence in the collaboration, noting that Reeves had invested considerable time and effort into the screenplay and that production was nearing completion.
"I am so happy he's come on to help Matt," Pattinson said. "It's incredibly generous of him, and he's doing it in the loveliest way. It's completely selfless." He added that Soderbergh's experience would be valuable as the team worked towards completing the film.
"I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we're almost done. So for someone to come in and say, 'I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.' And to have someone as talented as Steven doing it is great," the actor said.
Warner Bros. announced on October 5 that production had been temporarily halted while Reeves attended to a family matter. The studio expressed its support for the filmmaker and said it looked forward to resuming work on the sequel.
Reeves subsequently addressed speculation about his future on the project through a post on X, confirming that he had no plans to leave the film. He also thanked Soderbergh for offering assistance during the challenging period. "Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography," Reeves wrote.
The Batman Part II is scheduled to release in theatres on February 18, 2028, with Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne. The sequel also features Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance and Brian Tyree Henry.
Colin Farrell will reprise his role as the Penguin, while Andy Serkis and Jeffrey Wright are set to return as Alfred Pennyworth and Commissioner Gordon, respectively.
With production back on track, the team is working towards completing the sequel while Reeves continues to lead the project. Soderbergh's involvement is intended to help the director bring his vision to the screen without disrupting the film's established creative direction.
