Global superstar Ryan Gosling is all set to star in an exciting sci-fi thriller. The first trailer for Project Hail Mary, his latest action-packed sci-fi adventure from directors Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, was recently released, sending waves of excitement among users. (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Lego Movie). The film is expected to hit theatres across the globe on March 20, 2026, as part of the multi-year international theatrical distribution deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Project Hail Mary is based on the bestselling novel by Andy Weir (The Martian). The film stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, who is a lone astronaut who wakes up on a spaceship far from Earth. He wakes up with no memory of who he is or why he's there. Eventually, as his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission of solving the riddle of the mysterious substance that is causing the sun to die out.
He must recall all his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction. However, an unexpected friendship strikes and he may not have to do it alone.
The then MGM Chairman Michael De Luca acquired the rights to the novel by Andy Weir for $3 million. Project Hail Mary is directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, and written by Drew Goddard. The sci-fi thriller is produced by Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Aditya Sood, Rachel O'Connor, Andy Weir, and Ryan Gosling.
Back in April 2024, Amazon MGM Studios, which acquired MGM in 2022, announced a potential 2026 release window for the Ryan Gosling film. Apart from Ryan Gosling, the film also features an acclaimed ensemble cast featuring Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub.
Project Hail Mary is scheduled to be released on March 20, 2026 in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios, and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing.
