Sean "Diddy" Combs has been released from solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey after reportedly being involved in an altercation with another inmate last month. According to reports cited by TMZ, the incident began after another prisoner allegedly insulted Combs. The exchange reportedly escalated into pushing and punches before correctional officers intervened and separated the two men. Combs was subsequently placed in disciplinary segregation, commonly known as solitary confinement.
The latest development means Combs' time in disciplinary segregation has ended, although it remains unclear whether he could face any additional prison-related punishment over the reported altercation. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed details of the incident, citing its policy of not discussing individual inmates or disciplinary matters.
Combs is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence at the low-security facility. He was convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, a jury acquitted him of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced him in October 2025, while giving him credit for time already spent in custody following his September 2024 arrest.
Combs has been housed at FCI Fort Dix since October 2025 after requesting a transfer from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The New Jersey facility is where he has continued serving the remainder of his sentence. His reported altercation briefly disrupted his incarceration and resulted in his placement in disciplinary segregation.
His expected release date has also shifted during his time in federal custody. Federal Bureau of Prisons records cited by multiple outlets previously listed February 23, 2028, while more recent reporting has placed his projected release date at February 20, 2028. It is not yet clear whether the alleged prison fight and resulting disciplinary action will have any further impact on that timeline.
For now, Combs has returned from solitary confinement, but questions remain over whether prison authorities could impose additional sanctions related to the reported incident. With officials declining to provide details, the circumstances surrounding the altercation and its potential consequences remain based largely on media reports and unnamed sources.
