The final season of The Boys has officially premiered on Prime Video in India. As the season draws closer to its finale, viewers noticed that the Indian version appears significantly toned down. Despite the show having an adult rating, several fans on social media pointed out that the Indian version had multiple edits involving muted dialogues, blurred visuals, and trimmed sequences, especially the ones that involved religious elements.

The Boys Season 5 edited scenes in India

Reportedly, users pointed out that majorly scene containing religious satire or graphic imagery were edited in India. In Episode 1, Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite, Susan Heyward, who plays Sister Sage, responds to Oh-Father (Daveed Diggs) during a conversation about religion. In the Indian version, specific words from her dialogue were muted, while the subtitles replaced them with ellipses.

Similarly, in the second episode, Teenage Kix tends to feature trimmed visuals during a disturbing virus-testing sequence. In the Indian version, these were switched to wider shots to avoid showing explicit biological details involving the test subjects.

One of the widely discussed edits came in Episode 5, One Shots, where Firecracker (Valorie Curry), reportedly throws a Jesus figurine into a bin during a symbolic moment linked to Homelander's ideology. The figurine has been digitally blurred in India. The same episode also seemingly censors a line delivered by Homelander during a speech wherein he dismisses the idea of being a prophet. "Prophets are servants," the line has been censored in India.

Likewise, in Episode 6, King of Hell, portions of a particularly violent massacre sequence involving Black Noir II and The Deep have been allegedly shortened to reduce graphic close-up shots.

Edited version faces criticism

The heavy edits in The Boys Season 5 Indian version have triggered strong reactions online. Many viewers have questioned why the streaming platform has altered scenes so heavily, especially when the series is already adult-rated. Similarly, fans also argued that viewers should have access to the original creative vision rather than a modified regional cut.

Other fans also pointed out what they referred to as the irony of graphic violence largely remaining intact, whereas religious satire and even toy-like figurines were blurred or muted. A few eagle-eyed viewers also alleged that uncensored production stills can still be spotted through the platform's X-Ray trivia feature, which indirectly reveals what may have been edited out from the final stream.
