Actor Matt Damon has impressed the audience once again with his striking physical transformation as King Odysseus in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. He recently opened up about the making of the film and made a shocking revelation, sharing that a female stunt performer doubled for him in some of its biggest action sequences in the film.
Recalling how the action sequence in The Odyssey was filmed, Damon shared that Nolan's team relied on force perspective to develop the illusion of towering giants.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt shared, "When we did the force perspective stuff with the Laestrygonians, there were these stuntmen who were all seven feet, and then they got stunt people who were under five feet. My double was a woman, a female stunt performer who had the greatest arms I've ever seen. When she came into the catering tent, it was the first time I met her. I went up and hugged her and thanked her for all the work she put in."
He further added that it was Dalton, who appears in several shots involving the giants. "There are those shots where you see these giants looming over me - that's her. It was almost 100 per cent my arms in the movie, but you've got to give it up where it's due," he added.
Notably, the 55-year-old actor had previously opened up about the physical demands of playing Odysseus revealing that he slimmed down to 167 pounds to achieve the look that Nolan had envisioned. Speaking on the New Heights podcast. The actor said, "I was in really good shape. I lost a lot of weight. [Nolan] wanted me lean but strong. Just because of this other thing that I did with my doctor, I stopped eating gluten. I used to walk around at between 185 and 200, and I did that whole movie at 167. I haven't been that light since high school. So it was a lot of training and a really strict diet."
Devyn Dalton is a 34-year-old Canadian actor, dancer and stunt performer, best known for her work in motion capture, stunts and voice acting. She started dancing and acting at a young age before she was eventually discovered by a talent agent in her hometown of Edmonton and moved into the film industry in Vancouver.
According to IMDb, she made her feature film debut in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, where she performed two lead live-action roles. Later, she returned to the franchise as Cornelius in War for the Planet of the Apes.
She has also acted in Nickelodeon's A Fairly Odd Christmas, and Escape from Mr Lemoncello's Library.
Meanwhile, he stunt resume includes films like Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Godzilla, Arrow, Supernatural, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The X-Files, Wonder and Legion. Devyn has also worked on films such as X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Skyscraper and The Predator.
Besides, she has also lent her voice to animated projects including Barbie: Rock 'N Royals, Beyblade Burst and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, as per IMDb.
Dalton recently played Cosmo in The Electric State, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, wherein she reunited with Millie Bobby Brown after previously working as her stunt double.
