If it is the suit that makes the man, the journey of Tony Stark's armour through two films is nothing short of legendary, given the comic book has been around for ages. A geek will draw several references with either Batman or the Phantom.

The Iron Man sequel releases tomorrow and we give you a run through those suits for your browsing pleasure.
If you have seen the first film, you will remember Tony Stark being captured by terrorists. Forced to build a weapon of mass destruction, he builds the Mark I suit instead and uses it to escape.

On returning to the US, Stark constructs the Mark II as a prototype with an emphasis on exploring flight potential. It was soon replaced by the Mark III after initial flight testing.

This is the main suit Iron Man uses in that film. Designed for customization, the Mark III armor can be equipped with a variety of enhancements and upgrades.

The Mark IV, V and VI will now be a part of Iron Man 2.

The Mark V armour has been introduced in this film. It appears to be a portable suit presumably developed for emergency use. Lightweight and flexible enough to take the form of a briefcase, the armor is deployed as Stark is forced into a confrontation with Ivan Vanko in Monaco. By kicking open the case, inserting his hands into protruding gloves and placing the main assembly onto his chest, the Mark V armor folds out around Stark, quickly forming into a full red-and-silver armor.

Collector's special

The Mark IV and the Mark VI Iron Man statues. The Mark VI has LED lights in the eyes, chest and fists.

The War Machine statue comes with several detachable parts... obviously!
