Namjoon and Kim Taehyung
The moment that ARMY has been waiting for is finally here! BTS members Kim Namjoon, aka RM, and Kim Taehyung, aka V, have been officially discharged after completing their two-year mandatory military service in South Korea. The two members were visibly elated as they stepped out of military life and embraced the civilian world. They surprised waiting fans and the media by walking out in their army uniforms.
RM, the thoughtful leader of BTS, was seen playing the saxophone after his discharge. He had been practicing the instrument during his time in the military. Moments later, V joined RM, and the two shared a warm hug. V was seen holding bouquets as RM continued playing the saxophone.
After their discharge, while addressing the media, the duo shared their comeback plans. When asked what they wanted to do next, RM said, "I believe it'd be the same thing - perform." V echoed the same sentiment, simply replying, "Perform." RM added, "We want to have a concert, perform on stage. We'll hurry and make an album, and return to the stage." V affirmed this, saying, "Soon, real soon."
RM and V are the third and fourth members of the seven-member boy band BTS to complete their military service. Earlier, Jin and J-Hope were discharged in 2024. Jungkook and Jimin are set to be discharged on June 11, while SUGA, the final member, will complete his service on June 21. All members will then be seen together for the first time in three years.
Earlier, their agency released a statement confirming the discharge of RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, noting that no official events had been planned for the day of their return. They also urged fans not to gather or visit the discharge sites.
Interestingly, the discharge coincides with BTS's anniversary - June 13, when the group turns 12. As with every year, BTS will celebrate with their annual FESTA. This year's theme is âTwelve O'Clock,' inspired by their 2020 track âZero O'Clock.' Fans believe the theme is more than symbolic, suggesting the dawn of a new era for BTS.
