All Of Us Are Dead cast
Season 2 of Netflix's "All of Us Are Dead," the Korean YA zombie drama that debuted in 2022 and quickly became a global success, has begun production.
The series, based on Joo Dong-geun's popular web comic, had huge international success in its first season, gathering over 560 million viewing hours within 28 days of its release and landing in the Top 10 non-English TV rankings in more than 90 countries.
Season 2 will focus on university-aged protagonist Nam On-jo, played by returning actor Park Ji-hu, who is navigating life as a Seoul college student while dealing with the lasting trauma of her high school survival ordeal. The story takes a drastic turn when a new wave of virus hits the city, causing On-jo to fight for his life once more.
Several new characters join the cast throughout the second season. Lee Min-jae ("Weak Hero: Class 2"), Kim Si-eun ("Squid Game" Season 2), and Yoon Ga-i appear as three battle-hardened university seniors who have devised their own survival plans. Roh Jae-won ("Squid Game" Seasons 2, 3), who plays Han Du-seok, a National Intelligence Service squad leader, adds to the mystery by introducing fresh layers of suspense into the plot.
The season will also look at the current lives of original Hyosan outbreak survivors such as Cheong-san (Yoon Chan-young), Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun), and Su-hyeok (Lomon), as they face the obstacles of post-outbreak living while dealing with the reappearance of the infection.
Lee JQ ("Daily Dose of Sunshine") and Kim Nam-su return to direct the second instalment, working from a script written by returning writer Chun Sung-il ("King the Land").
The announcement reinforces Netflix's aggressive expansion into Korean content production. Recent Netflix Korea successes include "When Life Gives You Tangerines" starring IU and Park Bo-gum, "Culinary Class Wars," and the record-breaking "Squid Game" Season 3, which fueled the streamer's continued Korean content investment.
The gripping storyline hints at keeping the viewers on the edge of their seats with the second season. It will be interesting to see how fans may draw parallels from Squid Game as the actors have joined the cast.
