BLACKPINK's Lisa greets the fans with 'Sawadika' as she takes her music on the global stage of VMAs 2026. The awards hosted celebs like Taylor Swift, Nirvana, Troye Sivan, Sombr, Belmount Cameli, Ella Bright, Madonna, Sabrina Carpenter, and others. Lisa created history being the only K-pop artist to win VMA for her solo track.
Lisa won Best Pop for 'Dream' featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi. When her name got announced, Lisa couldn't hold back her tears. Fans even yelled, 'Lisa don't cry.' While accepting the award on the stage, Lisa broke down in tears and said, "Sawadee kha, everyone. Thank you MTV for this amazing award. All those late-night dreams brought me here today, so thank you for the inspiration. Especially, to my lilies, I wouldn't be here without you guys. Keep giving me your love and support, thank you."
Lisa brought her solo era to VMAs, where she performed her new single 'SaWaDiKa' live for the first time. The high-energy performance saw the singer-rapper channel the boxing-inspired aesthetic of the song's music video, combining intense choreography with a moving platform and dramatic dance sequences.
Lisa also used the performance to celebrate her Thai roots. She concluded the set by striking a pose on top of a tuk-tuk, adding a distinctly Thai touch to her VMAs appearance. "SaWaDiKa" marks a return to Lisa's rap-focused sound and serves as a preview of her upcoming EP Press Play, scheduled for release on October 23.
Apart from her solo track, Lisa has been garnering a lot of love for her documentary Always Lalisa. The documentary was released at Toronto International Film Festival 2026. The film promises a deep dive into her journey. From the unseen moments of her life and how things happen on the backstage before some of her biggest performances. The movie will also unveil her evolution from solo debut to how she became a part of K-pop's girlband BLACKPINK.
