Veteran actor Dharmendra died on Monday, November 21, 2025, due to age-related ailments. The veteran actor's death has left a void as the entire film industry mourns his passing. Several celebrities have been expressing their grief and sending their prayers on social media. Following the veteran star's death, the makers of the Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Peddi announced that they have decided to cancel the special announcement of the film scheduled on Monday afternoon.
The makers of Peddi took to social media to announce the cancellation of the special announcement. "We are deeply saddened by the news of Dharmendra ji's passing. An era he defined can never be replaced. In this moment of grief and as a mark of respect, today's announcement, scheduled for 4.05 PM, is being held back. Team Peddi conveys its heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire family," they wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Veteran actor, who was undergoing treatment for age-related ailments, breathed his last on Monday at his residence in Mumbai. The actor was admitted to the Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai earlier this month after complaining of breathlessness. He was in a critical state and on ventilator support. However, his condition improved, and he was discharged from the hospital, following which he was undergoing treatment at his home in Juhu. Although the family did not confirm the news of his death, pictures from his last rites emerged. The news was confirmed by filmmaker Karan Johar, who penned an emotional note for the late actor.
Peddi is helmed by Buchi Babu Sana, who made his Tollywood debut with the 2021 hit film Uppena. Headlined by Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyendu Sharma in pivotal roles. The film is set to release in theatres on March 27, 2026.
The music of the film is composed by AR Rahman, marking his return to scoring a full album for a Telugu film after a long time. Meanwhile, Peddi is being made on a massive budget of Rs 300 crore, marking the highest budget film in Ram Charan's career so far. Additionally, Peddi marks Janhvi's second Telugu film after Devara: Part 1, alongside Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, among others.
