H Vinoth reacts to questions about Vijay’s Jana Nayagan release: 'Don't have the courage to tell truth'

The release of Vijay's much-awaited film Jana Nayagan continues to remain uncertain, leaving fans eager for an official update. Amid growing speculation surrounding the project's delayed release, director H Vinoth addressed the issue during a recent event in Chennai. His cryptic response has sparked fresh curiosity among Vijay fans.

Director H Vinoth has commented on the film's fate at a recent promotional event of Pandiraaj's Parimala & Co in Chennai. During the interaction, the anchor asked the question many Vijay fans have been waiting to hear answered: "Tamil Nadu has already asked you this question; now I'm asking it too. When can we expect Jana Nayagan to release?"

As the audience erupted in cheers, Vinoth replied with a smile, "That is not up to me. I don't even have the courage to tell you the truth. Even if I had the courage, you wouldn't have the courage to share it." His response drew laughter from those on stage, including Ranjith and Santhosh.

Jana Nayagan, widely seen as Vijay's final film before his full-time entry into politics, was originally set to release on January 9, 2026. Production house KVN Productions issued a formal statement confirming the delay as it got stuck in limbo due to a delay in CBFC clearance. Amid the delay in its release, Jana Nayagan was leaked online, drawing strong reactions from the film fraternity.

The police had already arrested six people in connection with the case. In a statement, the State Cyber Crime Wing said that as part of its continued crackdown in the case, it had arrested three more people. Giving details of the crime, the police said, "The main accused was working as a freelance assistant editor for another movie. However, he unauthorizedly gained access to the reels of 'Jananayagan' movie at the editing studio and stole it. The stolen data was then rendered into a movie and shared with the co-accused, leading to the circulation and wider dissemination of the pirated copies online."

Jana Nayagan stars Vijay in the lead role alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju. The cast also includes Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. Produced by KVN Productions, the film features music by Anirudh Ravichander.
