Actor-politician Vijay has scripted history as his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single-largest party in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. In its electoral debut, TVK delivered a stunning performance, with Vijay himself contesting from Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East, winning both seats.
While no single party has crossed the majority mark on its own, all eyes are now on Vijay and the possible alliances he may forge to form the government and rule the state for the next five years.
Amid the celebrations, congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Vijay's landmark victory. Veteran actor and BJP leader Hema Malini congratulated Vijay and even referred to him as the likely next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Hema Malini first took to social media to congratulate the BJP on its victory in Puducherry.
She wrote, "Puducherry has seen another BJP repeat victory, which goes to prove that good governance carries the party to success."
Congratulating Vijay, she further wrote, "As for Tamil Nadu, the state has veered away from Dravidian supremacy that ruled for many years. The youth have voted in huge numbers for the new political star, film star-turned-politician Joseph Vijay. This was a completely unexpected tsunami that has swept through the state, which has earlier seen the rule of film personalities like MGR and Jayalalithaa. I wish Vijay all the best in his new role- most probably that of the new CM of Tamil Nadu."
She also expressed her delight over BJP's strong performance in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly election.
Crediting Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, she wrote on Instagram, "The euphoria is still settling in! Thrilled with the BJP win in Bengal- all the planning and hard work of Modi ji and Amit Shah ji has finally paid off. Proud to have been a small part of the hard campaigning that saw BJP's landslide victory over TMC."
She added, "Victory of democracy in a big way, endorsed by public awareness. My hearty congratulations to all the winners of this historic election."
Television actress Rupali Ganguly also reacted on social media, writing, "Bengal chose democracy over fear. A big thank you to our brave CRPF personnel who ensured peaceful voting despite every challenge. Jai CRPF."
