Actor-turned-politician Vijay recently created history with his political debut at the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026. His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single-largest party in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, securing 108 seats. Days after the victory, videos of theatres in the South turning into celebration zones have surfaced online, showing a new title card introducing Vijay as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in the upcoming film, Jana Nayagan.
The clips shared on X showed the new Jana Nayagan title card that reads: "Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay in Jana Nayagan."
The slate is seen drawing thunderous reactions in theatres, with fans cheering, dancing, and celebrating in the video. Many social media users celebrated the video, calling it a historic first. One fan wrote, "First ever CM title card for an ACTOR in India."
That being said, it remains unclear which theatre screened the version with the updated title card. Also, it cannot be verified if the new title card is true or just edited by fans. Notably, Vijay is yet to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and it is unlikely for the makers to add the title before the oath ceremony. Besides, the makers have yet to confirm if the title card was changed.
According to earlier reports, Thalapathy Vijay, the chief and founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), was expected to take oath as the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 7, 2026. The historic ceremony would mark a major political shift in Tamil Nadu after Vijay's party emerged as the single-largest force in the assembly elections.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai.
However, according to the latest reports, the actor-turned-politician is unlikely to take the oath on Thursday. TVK secured 108 seats out of 234, falling 10 seats short of the 118 majority mark. Reports suggest the Congress (5 seats) has extended support, while talks with the VCK (2 seats) are currently underway.
