Kerala State Film Awards 2025
The Kerala State Film Awards 2025 were announced today by the government. The prestigious honour celebrates all the Malayalam movies that were released in the year 2024. According to official sources, a seven-member jury, chaired by actor Prakash Raj, has reviewed a total of 38 films. The panel held detailed discussions after each screening to finalise the awardees. Jury members reportedly watched four to five films a day to ensure a fair and comprehensive assessment.
Mammootty bagged the top acting honour for his performance in the film Bramayugam, where he played a goblin. On the other hand, the Best Actress award went to Shamla Hamza for the critically praised film Feminichi Fathima. The film marked her debut as an actress.

Contenders for Kerala Film State Award and previous winners
The announcement for the winners was initially scheduled to take place on October 31. However, it was later shifted to November 3. Prior to the announcement, Bramayugam, Feminichi Fathima, Am Aa, and Kishkinda Kantham and Victoria were considered strong contenders for the Best Film category. In the acting categories, stars such as Mammootty, Mohanlal, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Anaswara Rajan, and Nazriya Nazim were seen as frontrunners.
In the previous edition of the Kerala State Film Awards, Kaathal - The Core, directed by Jeo Baby, won the award for Best Film. Prithviraj Sukumaran bagged the Best Actor award for his performance in Aadujeevitham, while Urvashi and Beena R Chandran shared the award for Best Actress for their performances in Ullozhukku and Thadavu, respectively. Blessy was named Best Director for Aadujeevitham.
