Kannada actress Krishi Thapanda has issued her first public statement following the death of businessman and close friend Vaishak, who was found dead at her Bengaluru residence last week. In an emotional note shared on Instagram, the actress expressed her grief, appealed for privacy, and urged people to refrain from spreading speculation as the police investigation continues.
According to police, Vaishak died by suicide at the apartment where Krishi lived. Reports stated that the actress was away at a meditation programme near Mahadevapura when the incident occurred. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
Breaking her silence days after the tragedy, Krishi admitted she never imagined having to address such a heartbreaking situation publicly. "I never imagined I would have to write something like this. I have neither the energy nor the mental strength to write this or even put this out into the world."
She explained that she had initially chosen not to respond, but increasing speculation and repeated questions directed at her, her friends, and both families compelled her to share her side.
Describing Vaishak as someone who had been an important part of her life, the actress wrote: "I have also lost someone who was very close to my heart, someone who stood by me, protected me, and cared for me with nothing but kindness. Losing him has left a void that words cannot describe."
Krishi also revealed that she had been dealing with personal emotional struggles even before the incident and said the latest tragedy had deepened her grief. "I have been carrying pain for a long time, and now I find myself grieving yet another unimaginable loss."
She added that the hardest part had been not getting the opportunity to mourn peacefully because of constant rumours and public scrutiny. "There have been constant speculations, assumptions, and attempts to turn someone's death into a story."
Thanking those who reached out with messages of support, Krishi acknowledged she might not be able to respond personally but appreciated their concern during the difficult time. She also appealed to the public and media to respect the privacy of Vaishak's family and loved ones.
"There is a family that has lost a son... If you cannot make someone smile, at least don't become the reason for their tears," she wrote, before requesting everyone to let Vaishak "rest in peace." She has also disabled comments on her Instagram post, limiting public responses as she continues to grieve.
