Partho, who is currently in Australia, says, "We have been informed that our film, Arunoday, has been chosen among the final 12 entries that have come from all over Asia. After the film's premiere at this festival, we will try to take it some other festivals in order to attract buyers. It is not commercial film, which is why it will take some time for us to release it in India."

Though Partho is Bengali, he decided to make a film in Marathi since he was born and brought up in Mumbai. "Mumbai has been an integral part of my life. The characters and the story were always set in Mumbai. That said, initially, I wanted to make it in Hindi, as it would have been easier for me to reach out to more audiences. But since National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) funds only regional films, it was suggested that I make it in Bangla, my mother tongue. But then again, I am not familiar with Kolkatta, so I thought of making a Marathi film set in Mumbai."

The director adds that it is more or less a silent film, which is why language never became an issue for the cast. Arunoday is the story of an inspector whose daughter disappeared ten years ago; he suspects that she has been forced into the flesh trade.
