Nani has opened up about what may have gone wrong with The Paradise after the film received a mixed response from audiences and critics. The actor admitted that the makers were working against a tight deadline and had to rush the post-production. He also acknowledged some glitches that could have been smoothened out with more time.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor opened up about the film's mixed response and revealed the real reason behind it. He said, "We're in a place where we're just thinking backwards, given the reactions. We're also aware of the timing. With the less post-production time, we rushed things a little bit. It was always there on the back of our mind whether we'll be able to achieve everything in time."
He further explained why the makers didn't consider postponing the film. "This was the third release date. The audience was so excited about the film that we didn't want to give up on them because of the postponement that happened so many times. So, we had an extremely tight deadline. More things would have made sense narratively with the edit and the score if we had more time. We could've smoothened it out," explained the actor. The Paradise was initially scheduled to release on March 26 before moving to August 21 and eventually September 25.
He also acknowledged the "little glitches" viewers had pointed out, including parts of the film feeling "a little jumpy". "We all get carried away and do mistakes. But if we understand and learn from them, that's the best way we can go ahead."
While the film has turned out to be Nani's biggest opening, the reviews were not favourable. The film had drawn criticism from audiences and critics alike. Nani penned a long note on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that he has seen all the responses to The Paradise since its release and enjoyed them all. "I have seen all your reactions and responses. I've received all your love and equally enjoyed your hilarious trolls. I'm heartwarmed by the way the audience have owned the film, and also learnt from the flaws that critics and reviewers have pointed out," he mentioned.
The Paradise was released in cinemas on September 24, 2026. The film took a bumper opening at the box office, becoming the biggest opening in Nani's career.
