Filmmaker Prasanth Varma has carved a name for himself as one of the most ambitious younger directors in Telugu cinema. However, in recent times, he has been making headlines over stalled projects, actors walking out, and financial disagreements. If the latest reports are to be believed, his collaboration with Prabhas could also be in trouble.

Has Prabhas quit Prasanth Varma's film?

According to a recent Gulte report, Prabhas and Prasanth Varma were set to collaborate on a mythological project tentatively titled Baka. In the film, Prabhas was reportedly set to play Bakasura. The film was said to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers. A test shoot with Prabhas also allegedly took place a few months ago.

However, according to the latest reports, Prabhas was not fully convinced after the shoot and hence is believed to have stepped away from the project. Although there has been no official confirmation from the makers, industry buzz suggests that the film may not move forward.

If Prabhas' exit is confirmed, this would mark another setback for Prasanth Varma. For the unversed, similar reports regarding projects involving Ranveer Singh's Brahma Rakshasa and Nandamuri Mokshagna's debut have emerged earlier. Meanwhile, the Prabhas-starrer was earlier speculated to go on floors before Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 and Salaar Part 2.

Prabhas work front

Prabhas was last seen in a lead role in The RajaSaab. Directed by Maruthi, the horror-comedy film revolved around Raja and his rivalry with his late grandfather, an evil spirit who haunts a mansion, played by Sanjay Dutt. Apart from Prabhas and Sanjay Dutt, the film also starred Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, and others.

Going forward, the actor is set to star in the cop action movie Spirit, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, co-starring Triptii Dimri. The film is set to be released in March, 2027.

Additionally, the actor is set to resume shooting for his period action drama Fauzi after coming backfrom a short vacation in Italy later this week. Notably, a major portion of the film has already been completed. Despite having multiple big films in the pipeline, Prabhas is currently focused on wrapping up Fauzi, after which he is expected to begin the initial schedule of Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2. He will then continue shooting for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit.
