The screening of Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2 has been halted at York Cinemas in Canada, with the exhibitor citing issues related to the film's distribution. In a statement shared on Instagram, the cinema announced that the film would no longer be screened. This jolt comes amid the film striking gold at the box office with its impressive run.
The Canadian exhibitor of Jailer 2, York Cinemas, announced in a statement on Instagram that it was halting screenings of the film. "Dear Valued Patrons, We regret to inform you that Jailer 2 will no longer be screening at York Cinemas effective Wednesday, October 21, 2026. This decision is due to circumstances beyond the control of York Cinemas."
Explaining its issue with the distributors and producers of Jailer 2, the exhibitor wrote, "Although York Cinemas has fulfilled all required financial commitments and payments, the valid KDMs (Key Delivery Messages) required to continue screening the film have not been provided by the North American distributors, Shloka Entertainments and Prathyangira Cinemas, following the required authorization from the production company, Sun Pictures."
"Without valid KDMs, we are technically unable to continue screening the film," the exhibitor said, concluding its note by apologising for the inconvenience. "We want our patrons to know that York Cinemas has made every effort to resolve this matter and continue the screenings, but unfortunately, the necessary authorization has not been received."
Megastar Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has hit the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide, emerging as the third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2026. The film is evidently having a pretty impressive run at the box office and isn't slowing down yet. The Dussehra holiday has added further momentum to its box-office run. The film's impressive performance has helped it surpass the Rs 500 crore worldwide milestone in just five days.
Backed by Sun Pictures and helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 brings back Rajinikanth as his iconic character, 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, along with Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik, who reprise their roles from the first part. S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna are the new additions to the cast.
The film also features high-profile cameos by Hrithik Roshan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff.
