Veteran Tamil film producer R. B. Choudary died in a car accident in Rajasthan on Tuesday. His sudden demise sent shockwaves across the film industry, with several celebrities mourning his loss. On Wednesday, Choudary's mortal remains were brought to his residence in Chennai, where many stars from the Tamil film industry arrived to pay their final respects.
On Wednesday afternoon, several prominent names from the industry were seen at the producer's residence, including Vikram, Dhanush, Suriya, Karthi and others. Actor and future Tamil Nadu CM Vijay also arrived to pay his last respects to the producer.
Upon hearing the news of Choudary's demise, veteran actors like Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi paid tribute on social media. Rajinikanth took to X to remember Choudary as a "top-notch producer" and a "wonderful human being."
"My dear friend, Super Good Films' R.B. Choudary was a top-notch producer and a wonderful human being. He gave opportunities to countless young directors and kept the film world alive. His untimely death has left me in great shock and immense sorrow. My deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace," Rajinikanth wrote.
Chiranjeevi also expressed his grief in an emotional post on X.
"Deeply heartbroken to hear about the sudden and tragic loss of legendary producer R.B. Choudary garu. I have known him for many years and was recently associated with him on my film GodFather through Super Good Films. He shaped the careers of many talented directors and actors and brought countless stories to life. His contribution to Indian cinema is beyond words," Chiranjeevi wrote.
In a career spanning over four decades, Choudary backed several blockbuster films, including Nattamai, Gokulam, and Suryavamsam.
His final production was Maareesan, directed by Sudheesh Sankar. The film starred Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles, with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It was released in July 2025.
Choudary was married to Mahjabeen, a Tamilian woman and is survived by his four sons. His son Suresh produced films for their home production, Super Good Films, while his other son, Jeevan, is an entrepreneur who runs a steel company. His third son, Jithan Ramesh, is an actor and producer. His youngest son, Jiiva, is also an actor.
