Football legend and the former England football captain, David Beckham, was in the city to attend an event on Friday. Beckham visited the country as part of his ongoing role as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. During his visit, he me,t actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dhanush. Videos of the actors meeting and interacting with the football legend went viral and drew significant attention online.
During a conversation with Samantha for Elle India during the event, David said, "India was one of the places I had never been to, and two years ago when I came here, I was blown away. I knew I was going to love it, but I didn't know I was going to love it as much as I do now. And that says it's about the people, the environment, the culture, and the food. But people in India, the energy is not what so many places have in the world."
The duo were seen exiting the event venue, as the paparazzi captured images of the two. They were seen sharing a brief hug before heading their separate ways. Beckham was seen looking dapper in a black T-shirt with matching trousers, while Samantha wore a grey pinstripe suit. The clips of their interaction have been widely shared on social media.
After the event, Beckham also took time to interact with fans outside the venue. Before leaving, the footballer even paused to take selfies and sign autographs.
On the work front, Samantha recently produced the film Subham. Next, she will be seen in Raj & DK's Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, which includes an ensemble cast. The movie is expected to be released in 2026.
At a separate event, David also met Dhanush in Mumbai. A video shared by a Dhanush fan page shows the two involved in conversation, as both of them wear black suits. This meeting too received a lot of attention on social media.
Dhanush's latest release, Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Anand L Rai, co-starring Kriti Sanon, hit the screens on November 28, the same day as Beckham's visit.
