Actor Srinidhi Shetty has dismissed rumours that she charges Rs 7-8 crore per film following the success of the KGF franchise, saying that money is not the deciding factor when she signs a project. The actor explained that she prioritises strong stories and well-written characters over the number of films she does.
Srinidhi made her acting debut opposite Yash in KGF, which brought her widespread recognition. However, she said the speculation surrounding her remuneration was unfounded, pointing out that she has appeared in relatively few films since the franchise's success.
"After the success of the KGF films, they say that I am asking for Rs 7 to 8 crore. I have acted in a few films so far. When that is the case, how can I ask for such a huge amount as remuneration? So, it is just a rumour," she told Screen.
The actor further explained that she could have taken up many more projects if financial gain had been her primary motivation. Instead, she has chosen to be selective about the roles she accepts. "If earning money was my only goal, I could have acted in 30 to 40 films over the last few years. But I do not sign films just for money. I give priority to good stories and quality characters," Srinidhi added.
After KGF, Srinidhi appeared in the Tamil films Cobra and HIT: The Third Case, along with the Telugu film Telusu Kada. Her relatively limited filmography has prompted speculation about her remuneration, which she has now addressed. She had also auditioned for Sita's role in Ramayana but was rejected.
Srinidhi also spoke about her upcoming film Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47, in which she stars opposite Venkatesh Daggubati. Addressing comparisons with Blast, she said audiences had drawn parallels because both films feature families and action, but maintained that their stories are different. "It is fine. You can think. But story-wise, because I did it, I know. It is not like Blast. Apart from the fact that the family is there and there is some blood," she said.
The actor also revealed that the project marks her first attempt at comedy. "This is the first time I have done comedy. I have never done comedy before. So I don't know how it will come out. It is a good blend of crime, comedy and dark comedy," she added.
Directed by Trivikram Srinivas and produced by S. Radha Krishna under Haarika and Hassine Creations, Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47 also features Nara Rohith, Nivetha Pethuraj and Yuvina Parthavi. The film is scheduled to release on October 30.
Srinidhi also has an untitled Kannada project directed by Anup Bhandari in the pipeline. Reportedly a science-fiction thriller, it is expected to feature RangiTaranga actor Nirup Bhandari in a leading role.
