Thalapathy Vijay in GOAT (Pic/ Still from the movie)
Thalapathy Vijay announced his departure from the film industry last year to devote all his energy to his political journey. He contested his maiden election this year in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), stunned many with an exceptional performance, emerging as the single-largest party in the state.
The party won 108 out of 234 seats in the Assembly. Although Vijay-led TVK fell short of the majority mark, it is expected to form the government with alliance support, with Vijay set to take oath as Chief Minister soon.
Amid this massive victory, fans have noticed that the actor may have hinted at this political milestone two years ago.
Vijay had expressed his interest in politics long before launching TVK in 2023. After forming his party and indicating his intention to step away from films to focus on politics, his movies appeared to drop subtle hints about his political future.
Now, a scene from Vijay's 2024 film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) has gone viral after fans spotted an interesting detail.
In one scene, Vijay's character is seen driving a car. As the vehicle moves away, the camera focuses on its number plate, which reads: TN 07 CM 2026. Fans have been widely sharing the clip, claiming that the actor and the filmmakers hinted at the superstar's political aspirations for the 2026 elections.
By the time GOAT was released, Vijay had already formed his party and publicly stated his intention to contest the elections and form the government.
Not just GOAT, even Vijay's Jana Nayagan co-star Pooja Hegde appeared to predict his victory during the film's shoot.
On Tuesday, Pooja took to Instagram and shared a behind-the-scenes video from the sets of Jana Nayagan. In the clip, she points to a question written on a whiteboard: "Who wins the elections?"
She then stands in front of Vijay and playfully winks at him, suggesting that he and his party would emerge victorious. The sweet gesture left Vijay blushing as he covered his face and walked away.
"Guess I called it before it happened? Here's to dreams turning into reality, Vijay sir," Pooja captioned the post.
Earlier, she had also shared a photo with Vijay on Instagram Stories and congratulated him on his historic victory.
