Arnold Volsoo on the sets of VD14
The cast of Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming period drama, tentatively titled VD14, has gone global. Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo has reportedly been roped in to play a pivotal role in the film. The actor is best known for his chilling turn as the antagonist in The Mummy film franchise. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film is backed by Mythri Movie Makers.
Arnold Vosloo's picture from the sets of VD14 is doing the rounds on social media. In the viral photo, he is seen posing with actor Vinod Sagar. Fans are eager to see how Vosloo will be presented in the Telugu period drama after his pictures went viral.
As per reports, Vosloo will portray a British officer in the film, which is set between 1854 and 1878. He will be the antagonist and will share several scenes with Deverakonda. The story is said to draw from real historical events, exploring themes of resistance, revolution, and identity.
Rahul Sankrityan has previously directed Deverakonda in the 2018 film Taxiwaala. Apart from that, he also directed the successful period drama Shyam Singha Roy, starring Nani and Sai Pallavi.
At a recent event, Sankrityan said that VD14 will feature Deverakonda's most transformative performance yet. Speaking at the promotional event of Dude, he hinted that audiences will see a completely new side of Vijay on screen.
"When you see Vijay's performance in VD14, you'll be shocked. You'll witness his Vishwaroopam, a complete transformation," the filmmaker said.
VD14 is being mounted on a grand scale by Mythri Movie Makers, with Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar producing it, and T-Series co-presenting. The film is expected to combine scale and sentiment, aiming to set a new benchmark for Telugu period cinema. Rashmika Mandanna is reported to play the female lead, though the makers are yet to issue an official confirmation.
The actor was last seen on screen in the film Kingdom. The film directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, was released in theatres in July this year after multiple delays and did average at the box office. The actor also has a film tentatively titled SVC 19 in his line up.
