Filmmaker Geetu Mohandas's upcoming gangster drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups continues to generate headlines. Most recently, reports surfaced claiming that Kiara Advani had allegedly asked the makers to tone down an intimate scene featuring her alongside Yash. The actor has now dismissed the claims outright.
A report by Gulte, citing "industry buzz," alleged that Kiara had requested Yash and director Geetu Mohandas to trim certain romantic portions after viewing the final footage. According to the report, the actor had initially agreed to film a bold romantic sequence after being assured it would remain within her comfort zone, but later supposedly reconsidered after seeing the output.
The report further claimed that insiders suggested Kiara had asked the team to either shorten the sequence or soften its presentation in the final cut. As the speculation began circulating online and sparked mixed reactions among fans, Kiara finally responded.
After coming across an Instagram post by an entertainment portal that read, "Kiara Advani requests makers to tone down bold scenes with Yash in Toxic," the actor reshared the post on her Instagram Stories and shut down the rumours. Sharing the post, she simply wrote, "Absolute nonsense!"
The film, which was earlier set to release on June 4, 2026, will now arrive in theatres worldwide on a new date to be announced soon. With the film now complete, the makers are currently focused on locking global distribution and forging key international partnerships to ensure Toxic reaches audiences across markets at the scale it demands.
In a statement, Yash said, "There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed - that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide."
Confirming that Toxic had been completed, he further said, "We are currently aligning global distribution and partnerships. In light of this, we have decided to recalibrate our release timeline. While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will be releasing at a later, globally aligned date. Toxic will come to theatres across the world soon."
