While Yash's Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups has been one of the most anticipated films, the film has also landed in controversy after its assets, including its recent teaser, Ladies and Ladies, were released. The internet has been criticising the film for its sensual scenes, with many viewers calling out the "vulgar" content. Amid the backlash, an old interview of the actor saying that he would never perform a scene that he wouldn't be comfortable watching with his parents has now gone viral. Yash's earlier comments have sparked conversations online.
Earlier, during an appearance on actor Ramesh Aravind's talk show Weekend With Ramesh, Yash explained the principle he has always tried to follow. He added that he would get so nervous while doing those scenes on set, saying, "People, including Radhika, would laugh at me while I performed a romantic scene."
"If I'm not comfortable watching a particular scene with my parents sitting beside me, I won't do it. Mostly because I feel it would make many viewers uncomfortable as well," he added.
"I'm surprised when people tell me I perform romantic scenes well. I used to get extremely nervous while shooting them," he shared. During the conversation, Yash also looked back on filming his first romantic scene during his television days, revealing that the experience left him completely overwhelmed.
Recalling the incident, Yash said, "In the very first shot of my television show, I was asked to pull the lead actress' saree. I panicked. The actresses would encourage me, saying, 'It's okay, it's just a scene,' but I would tell them, 'Please let me be.' Even my mother used to get disappointed and say, 'You don't know how to do romantic scenes.'"
The old interview has resurfaced at a time when Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has faced criticism over its intimate and highly sensual visuals. The new teaser, Ladies and Ladies brings the film's female characters into the spotlight. However, the promo has drawn flak from social media users, who accused the clip of objectifying women while giving its leading ladies little to do despite centring the promo around them. Many claimed that despite it being intended to focus on the women, it focused on Yash.
