Actor Vishnu Manchu has spoken out against the piracy attack on his recently released mythological epic Kannappa, which hit theatres worldwide on June 27 to a positive response from audiences. Taking to social media on Monday, the actor made a heartfelt appeal, urging viewers to support cinema the right way. Calling piracy a "crime that steals years of hard work and artistry," Vishnu pleaded with fans to reject illegal viewing and protect the integrity of creative expression.

"Dear movie lovers, Kannappa is under attack from piracy. Over 30,000 illegal links have already been taken down. This is heartbreaking," Vishnu wrote on X. "Piracy is theft - plain and simple. We don't teach our children to steal. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don't encourage it. Support cinema the right way. Har Har Mahadev."

Know the cast of Kannappa

Kannappa, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, features Vishnu in the titular role of Thinnadu - a warrior who transforms into a fierce devotee of Lord Shiva. The film also stars Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Mohanlal as Kirata, and Prabhas in a special appearance as Rudra. Actress Priety Mukhundan plays the female lead, while the music is composed by Stephen Devassy. The film's production values are top-tier, with cinematography by Sheldon Chau and Siddharth, editing by Antony, and choreography by Prabhu Deva. A major portion of the film was shot on location in New Zealand, backed by a lavish budget.

Vishnu Manchu's spiritual journey

Prior to the release of Kannappa, Vishnu had embarked on a deeply personal spiritual journey, visiting all 12 Jyotirlingas across India. He completed the pilgrimage at the Sri Sailam Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple. Sharing his experience online, he wrote, "Twelve Jyotirlingas. One journey. Eternal peace. Just completed the sacred darshan at Sri Sailam Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple - one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. With this visit, my journey to all twelve Jyotirlinga temples comes to a divine close."

He added, "My heart is full. My soul feels blessed. Life right now is filled with nothing but positivity, gratitude, and peace. As I stand at the edge of this spiritual milestone, I now look forward to the next chapter: Kannappa, releasing worldwide on June 27. A film close to my heart. A story that reflects the very spirit I carry today. Har Har Mahadev!"

Despite the buzz and blessings surrounding its release, Kannappa has now become the latest target of piracy - a harsh blow to the team behind the magnum opus. Manchu's call to action is a reminder of the ongoing battle between creators and content theft in the digital age.
