Yash breaks silence on Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Mr showoff’ remark: 'Don't know in what sense she spoke'

Rashmika Mandanna, who started her career in the Kannada industry, is now a successful pan-India actress. As a newcomer, the actress didn't shy away from expressing her opinions, which landed her in trouble. During an interview, she had called KGF star Yash ‘Mr Showoff.' Years later, Yash reacted to it, saying everyone is entitled to an opinion. He also clarified that such opinions do not define him.

Yash on Rashmika's show-off remark

During his conversation with Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat, Yash was asked about Rashmika Mandanna's controversial 2017 remark, when she named him as the ‘Mr Showoff' of the Kannada film industry.

Reacting to it, he said, "I don't know in what sense she spoke. She was new. There are 'bakwaas' TV shows, where the interviewer gives 3-4 options, and probably 'yeh ladki sochi ki yeh option suit hoga.' Bahut saare directors offended ho gaye. I personally feel that's okay; that's somebody's opinion. That's what I wrote. Anybody can give an opinion about you. But somebody's opinion will not be my personality. Jo main hoon, woh kisi ke nazariye se nahin badalta hai." He went on to say, "If you don't respect another actor, then you are not my fan."

The remark got her severe backlash from Yash's fans on social media, prompting Rashmika Mandanna to issue an apology and clarify her comments.

Yash is currently gearing up for the release of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas. The action thriller features Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. The film has received an ‘A' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with a reported runtime of 194 minutes (3 hours 14 minutes). The film is set in post-Independence Goa and follows a gangster navigating loyalty, morality and redemption amid violence and jealousy.

While the trailer of Toxic is receiving praise from a section of the audience, it has also received backlash over Yash and Kiara Advani's steamy scenes. Addressing the criticism, he said, "Vulgarity is wrong. I haven't even kissed, as you may have noticed. You have to shoot things aesthetically, and what may seem visually appealing later is the impact of cinema. Toxic is for Gen Zs."

Apart from this, Yash is also a part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Ever since the trailer dropped, his portrayal of Ravana has grabbed attention.
