This includes nearly Rs. 4.50 crore from the previews on Wednesday night, mostly from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Rishab Shetty’s film is not only smashing records domestically, but also globally. Top Kannada openers of all time

KGF chapter 2

KGF as a film cemented Yash’s place as global star and with part 2, the stature only went a notch higher. The film raked in Rs 164 crores on opening day.

It also starred Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and Srinidhi Shetty. The film was lauded for it’s style of storytelling.

Kantara Chapter 1

While 2022 release Kantara earned single-digit opening, it gradually snowballed as one of the fines film of Indian cinema. Kantara Chapter 1 has recorded an opening of Rs 60 crores.**

It is now second biggest Kannada opener of all time. The film also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth and Jayaram.

777 Charlie

Starring Rakshit Shetty and a dog named Charlie in the lead role, the film is receiving rave reviews from all around. Made on a moderate budget, the film opened at Rs 10 crores.

Vikrant Rona

It is a 2022 Indian Kannada-language action thriller directed by Anup Bhandari and starring Kichcha Sudeep in the titular role. The film also starred Jacqline Fernandez. It minted Rs 35 crores on opening day.

KGF 1

Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film took Kannada cinema to global level with unprecedented success. Rocking star Yash’s film minted Rs 25 crores on opening day and became a monumental success, grossing approximately Rs 238 crore worldwide.

Raajakumara 

Released on March 24, 2017, Raajakumara achieved significant commercial success. It recorded an opening of Rs 27 crores. Directed by Santhosh Ananddram, it starred Puneeth Rajkumar in the titular role.

Kurukshetra 13 crore

The mythological drama had an opening day collection of over Rs 13 crores. Directed by Naganna, the film based on the Indian epic Mahabharata and inspired by the 10th-century Kannada poet Ranna's Gadhayuddha.

Mungaru Male

The romantic drama was the first Kannada film to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office, that too on opening day itself.

Robbert

The film starring Darshan Thoogudeepa was a commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2021. It’s opening day collection was Rs 17.24 crores.

James

The action thriller directed by Chethan Kumar, featuring Puneeth Rajkumar in his final film appearance. It raked in Rs 32 crores at the box office.
