Abigail Pande questions selective social media outrage following Kriti Sanon ad row: 'So many rapes happening'

TV actress Abigail Pande recently took to social media to question the selective outrage on social media when it comes to the rape cases being reported across the country. She even compared the outrage over Kriti Sanon's outfit in a Raksha Bandhan ad to the response to violence against women.

The actress posted a note on her Instagram Stories on September 25, 2026 and wrote, "So many rapes happening in our country, yet not even half of the outrage as there was for Kriti Sanon's outfit for an advertisement." She further questioned, "Or is telling a woman what to wear easier than telling men to control themselves?"

Although Abigail did not name the Bihar incident directly, her post comes at a time when there is outrage over the Jamui case. Notably, before Abigail, Ayesha Khan had reacted to the Jamui incident, writing, "I am angry. Not sad. Not shocked. Angry. Every day, there is another video, another case, another woman being violated, harassed, or brutalised and then another round of responses asking what she was doing, where she was, what she was wearing, or why she was alone."

Ayesha further said that the reports made her feel "disgusted," saying, "I feel disappointed. And I feel a kind of rage that is becoming harder and harder to put into polite words." Meanwhile, she also questioned responses from leaders that focus on questioning women rather than defending them.

Disha Patani's sister Khushboo Patani also reacted to the incident in Bihar. She shared a series of pictures on social media and wrote, "Thanks to god women ask only for equality and not for revenge." Disha also extended her support, agreeing with what her sister had to say by commenting on the post with a red heart.

Kriti Sanon likes post about outrage over rape

Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon also recently liked a similar post on Instagram about how public focus often shifts toward policing and judging women's clothing instead of addressing serious offenses against women. The post read, "The fact that rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, and dowry deaths do not invoke as much outrage in this country as an actress showing cleavage in a festive ad says a lot about our priorities."
