Amitabh Bachchan has become the face of Kaun Banega Crorepati for over 25 years by sitting across the hot seat. The host has been an integral part of the quiz-based reality show by asking questions, celebrating big wins and offering words of advice to contestants. However, recently the veteran actor opened up about hosting the show and the challenge of hearing the emotional stories of contestants.
In a late-night post on his personal Tumblr account, the veteran actor revealed how contestants sometimes come with personal stories that are so difficult that they leave him struggling to keep his emotions in check. The actor reflected on his experience of hosting the ongoing 18th season of the show.
Without revealing many details of the stories that affect him, Amitabh Bachchan revealed that some experiences of the contestants have been "heart-breaking."
The host, who earlier revealed how he pulled off a 24-hour shift on the show, wrote, "Some contestants come with such grave personal stories that it becomes difficult to conduct not just our feelings for them but also to continue hosting the show," in a post shared at 2:59 AM on September 7.
He also shared that there were certain stories he could not share details on, adding that it could interfere with the understanding between the host and the channel. "I shall not indulge more because it would take away some elements from the understanding that a host gives to the Channel," he said.
"It has been a heart-breaking experience. I wish to retire now .. it is late .. and the night invites .. Love," he concluded.
The show is currently in the 18th season, which premiered on August 10. Amitabh Bachchan returned as host for the 18th instalment of the quiz-based reality show.
So far, the show has featured contestants who are often seen speaking about financial struggles, personal setbacks and difficult circumstances. This season's theme, âSochna Padega', further lays emphasis on thinking carefully and making considered decisions instead of simply rushing towards an answer.
Recently, Amitabh Bachchan welcomed the winners of the Commonwealth Games 2026 on the hotseat.
