L-R: Ashnoor Kaur, Still from Saiyaara and Mridul Tiwari
Mohit Suri's Saiyaara was one of the biggest hits of the year, featuring debutants Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda. The film ran to houseful theatres for weeks, with audiences getting emotional in viral videos shot inside cinema halls. Now, the film has become a topic of discussion inside the Bigg Boss 19 house. In one of the recent episodes, contestants were heard discussing the hype around Saiyaara.
Saiyaara created records at the box office, with young audiences rooting for the romantic musical. The film also went viral for emotional videos showing audiences crying in theatres during the climax. During a conversation in the house, contestants Mridul and Ashnoor Kaur suggested that the viral emotional moments were likely a planned PR stunt.
During the discussion, actor Gaurav Khanna said, "Maine ye film nahi dekhi, pata hai? (I haven't watched this film, do you know?)" To this, Mridul Tiwari replied, "Achi baat hai (Good that you haven't watched it)."
Gaurav then spoke about the viral reels of people getting emotional while watching the film. Mridul claimed, "Main tumhe sach bataun, ye tak kaha gaya tha logon se ki tum jaake ye sab karna (Let me tell you the truth, people were actually asked to do all that)."
A shocked Gaurav said, "Kya baat kar raha hai?" Ashnoor, who was part of the conversation, agreed with Mridul and said that the clips of Saiyaara were indeed a PR stunt.
Gaurav then asked Ashnoor if the film was worth watching. The actress said it was a "one-time watch" and lacked truly emotional moments.
Mohit Suri's film is an intense romantic drama that resonated with the youth. It follows Vaani (Aneet Padda), who is heartbroken when her boyfriend Mahesh leaves her just before their court wedding. Six months later, she meets Krish (Ahaan Pandey), an aspiring singer chasing his dreams. What follows is an emotional tale of love, heartbreak, and grief.
Released in July 2025, Saiyaara surprised everyone with its box office performance. In its third week, the film entered the Rs 500 crore club globally. With Saiyaara, Mohit Suri scored his first Rs 500 crore worldwide blockbuster, and Ahaan-Aneet became the first debutants in Indian cinema history to achieve this feat.
