Mary Kom got emotional during the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20 as she opened up about one of the darkest phases of her life. The six-time world champion boxer, while comforting fellow contestant Isha Rikhi, recalled a period when she felt broken and said she had thought about ending her life. She revealed that her young children became a reason for her to keep going.
Mary was speaking to Isha, Rhiti Tiwari, Amrapali Dubey and Kanika Mann when the conversation turned to personal struggles and difficult phases in life. Despite her celebrated career and reputation for being strong in the boxing ring, Mary said there was a time when she felt helpless.
"I am very strong. But in that year, I lost a bit. I was broken. I had a lot to do," she said. Recalling the severity of the phase, Mary added, "I wanted to end my life. That's what I was thinking. But I am still alive for my children. They were small."
The athlete also spoke about the sacrifices she has made throughout her life for her family, her home state Manipur and the country. She reflected on the challenges she encountered from a young age and described overcoming them as a continuing struggle. "I have been through a lot since I was young. I have sacrificed for my family, for my state and for my nation. Who can fight like this? This is a challenge," Mary said.
The boxer further spoke about her continuing hunger for competition. She said she wanted to win more medals but could no longer participate because of her age. "I am a different athlete. I want to win more medals. One medal isn't enough. Two medals aren't enough. Three medals aren't enough. I am still hungry but can no longer participate because of overage," she said.
Mary also admitted that expressing emotions has become difficult for her after years of dealing with challenging circumstances. "I have cried a lot. Now, slowly, I have to pull the tears inside," she said.
Her revelation came while she was attempting to support Isha, who was emotional during the conversation. The exchange offered a glimpse into a more vulnerable side of Mary, away from her sporting achievements and public image.
Mary, who hails from Manipur, is one of India's most decorated boxers. She has won six world championship titles and represented India at multiple international competitions. She also won an Olympic bronze medal.
Her personal journey has often been marked by balancing an elite sporting career with family responsibilities. Mary and her former husband Onler Kom are parents to four children.
On Bigg Boss 20, Mary has so far spoken about her life, struggles and experiences while adapting to the reality-show environment. Her latest conversation revealed the emotional challenges she faced beyond the boxing ring and the role her children played during one of her most difficult periods.
