Tanisha Mehta Smriti Irani
Tanisha Mehta, who is playing the character of Vrinda in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, has been garnering a lot of love from fans in just two episodes. The actress exclusively spoke to mid-day, sharing her joy on being part of a legacy, on working with Smriti Irani and more.
Tanisha shared how she bagged a role in Kyunki, "I've given countless auditions over time, and one of them was for Kyunki. It wasn't an overnight thing; it took a while. Auditioning and casting are far from easy. You put your heart into a tape, send it out, and then⦠silence. You rarely know if it worked, if someone even watched it, or if you're even being considered. It can get disheartening, but you keep going, hoping that one day the right one clicks - and thankfully, this one did. I had almost lost hope that maybe it didn't work out, and then I got a call one night saying I'm finalised, and from then onwards, everything started flowing."
She further revealed what makes Vrinda different from her previous characters, "Each character I've played so far has taught me something new, but Vrinda feels different on a deeper level. She has a quiet strength, a strong sense of responsibility, and an emotional depth that's incredibly layered. Unlike some of my previous roles, which were more spontaneous or light-hearted, Vrinda is more rooted - she carries the weight of relationships, traditions, and choices. Playing her has pushed me to tap into a more mature, nuanced space as an actor, and that's been both challenging and very rewarding."
Tanisha expressed gratitude and shared how it has been working with Smriti Irani in the show, "Working with Smriti Irani has been nothing short of inspiring. She carries such grace, strength, and professionalism, it's easy to see why she's so loved and respected. Even after all these years, her passion and dedication to the craft are truly admirable. She has this amazing ability to light up a space and make everyone feel valued. Just being around her is a learning experience in itself, and I feel incredibly fortunate to share the screen with someone like her. She is very friendly and grounded; she makes the atmosphere light and easy. I feel like the luckiest person sharing screen with her."
