Education reformist and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk has been making headlines due to his indefinite hunger strike over the alleged examination irregularities as well as the NEET paper leak. As his strike enters its 17th day, his health has been deteriorating, leaving many worried. Amid the growing attention on his protest, several celebrities have voiced their concerns. Among them was Bigg Boss 19 fame Kunickaa Sadanand; however, her support took a different turn when a few netizens commented on her Kumar Sanu controversy.
Kunickaa took to social media on July 13, to extend her support to Sonam via a video message. She urged fellow citizens to support those who are raising their voices and questioning the government. She added that if citizens remain indifferent to the voices of others today, their own voices will be weak when they face injustice.
Kunickaa, who was last seen in Bigg Boss 19, also highlighted that democracy is not upheld merely by casting votes, saying it stays alive only when citizens care about each other's rights and raise their voices together.
In the caption, she wrote, "When the government stops listening, asking questions becomes even more essential. These questions aren't just about Mr. Sonam Wangchuk - they're about our democracy and every voice that rises for truth and justice. If those who speak the truth fall silent, then who will change the nation?"
Reacting to her post in support of Sonam Wangchuk, one user wrote, "The cheap flop Bollywood types have arrived in the field." Kunickaa replied to the user saying, "Chalo koi nahi mai flop actor hi sahi? Aap bataao aap kya ho, bina zameer aur emaan ka chalta phirta laash ? Kam se kam meri conscience zinda hai, awaaz bullund hai?? aap kahan ho? sirf troll karna kaam hai aapka, woh bhi 2 rupees ke liye (Fine, whatever, at least I'm a flop actor, right? You tell me what you are - a walking corpse without a conscience or faith? At least my conscience is alive, my voice is loud?? Where the hell are you? Is trolling all you do for work, and that too for 2 rupees?)"
Responding to Kunickaa, a user shared a screenshot of her affair with singer Kumar Sanu, while he was still married to his wife in the 1990s. Calling her a home wrecker, the user wrote, "Where was your conscience when you dated married men and wrecked their home ???"
Kunickaa did not hold back and hit back at the user for dragging her personal life into the matter saying, "Arrey bhai desh mein mujh se aur mere life se bade muddey chal rahein hain, (there are bigger issues in the country than me and my life) and you are still engrossed and captivated by my beauty and brains. Chalo chalo aagey badho⦠chutta nahi hai bhai"
