Ekta Kapoor recently took to social media to open up about the next season of her popular TV franchise, Naagin. After Naagin 7 came to an end, naturally the next season was expected to be titled in the numeric order as Naagin 8. However, Ekta has now revealed that she cannot call the upcoming season Naagin 8 due to astrological reasons. The producer even questioned what the new season should be titled, suggesting options such as Naagin 7.9, Naagin 7 2.0 and even Naagin 9.
Taking to her Instagram Story, Ekta shared a video in which she said, "The question is that Naagin 8 is happening, but I can't call it Naagin 8 na." She went on to explain why she could not use the title, saying, "8 is not lucky."
Ekta went on to playfully consider other names for the upcoming season of her show, asking if it should be called Naagin 7.9 or Naagin 7 2.0. Unconvinced by these options, Ekta went on to suggest, "Maybe Naagin 9 straight away." The producer then concluded her video by asking fans to share their suggestions for the title of the upcoming season.
For the unversed, the seventh season of the popular supernatural show, starring Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, premiered on December 27, 2025, before drawing its curtains on June 14, 2026. While fans of the franchise await the next instalment, Ekta, back in April 2026, hinted that the franchise would return in 2027, but with shorter seasons planned to allow the show to make a comeback more regularly.
However, the makers are yet to officially announce the premiere date, cast or filming schedule for the upcoming season. Earlier in August, Ekta Kapoor also confirmed a movie adaptation of the popular franchise.
Ekta has often been vocal about her belief in astrology and numerology. It has even reportedly influenced some of her professional decisions. The television producer has previously shared that she consulted astrologers and numerologists while making decisions about her shows and films.
During a 2003 interview, she had said, "After consulting them, I just feel psychologically satisfied," clarifying that her faith was not blind. Recently, she also opened up about often being judged for her faith in the industry.
