Rajeev Khandelwal (PR currated)
Television actor Rajeev Khandelwal has once again made his stance clear he has no intention of returning to daily soaps, even after more than a decade away from the format. In a candid conversation with mid-day, the actor reflected on his past work, firmly stating that he has stayed true to a decision he made early in his career.
When asked whether in the season of comebacks, would he want to return with any of his iconic shows. Rajeev denied on returning. "I wouldn't touch those shows," he said, emphasizing that most of the projects he has been part of have already told complete stories. The only exception, he admitted, could be Left Right Left. "Because the story was left incomplete⦠I wanted to quit that show. So, the story was left incomplete in some way. So, maybe only Left Right Left I can think of that one can redo with me."
However, beyond that, Khandelwal remains uninterested in revisiting past successes. "Otherwise, I wouldn't touch anything because the stories were complete. I don't want to rekindle anything and ruin those shows by just creating a world around it. The shows⦠it was a love story," he explained, underscoring his belief in preserving the integrity of finished narratives.
Addressing long-standing fan demand for a sequel to Kahiin Toh Hoga, the actor was unequivocal. "Sorry, I'm not going to come with Kahiin Toh Hoga Season 2." He acknowledged the continued love for the show but believes that its legacy lies in that very longing. "That's the beauty⦠and that's why probably that love has been so consistent because they wanted me back playing something that they have really admired⦠I think that it's lived for so long only because of that craving."
Reiterating a promise he made back in 2003, Khandelwal added, "You will never see me in a daily soap. That was what I said⦠I will never be a part of daily soap. I will never do it again. And⦠in 2026, I'll still say the same. You will never see me in a daily soap. Never, ever."
Beyond television, the actor also opened up about his perspective on social media, revealing a detached and pragmatic approach. "Social media for me⦠is a platform where I can give you my version of the story if I ever have to. Otherwise, it's not for validation. It's not to further my career. It is not a tool for me."
He further clarified that he does not rely on these platforms for connection or appreciation. "I probably don't even use it to connect with my fans⦠I'm alive on social media only because I need to have one platform in today's changing scenarios⦠where I can voice my opinion if ever need be."
For Khandelwal, real-world connections far outweigh virtual validation. "I do not enjoy any appreciation on social media or any criticism⦠because I feel it's virtual." Summing up his philosophy, he added, "If you tell me, Rajeev, would you trade one hug with five million likes? No. I would say no⦠that one hug is double the amount of whatever likes that you may just think of."
