Colors has officially announced the second season of its popular celebrity-couple reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga, and mid-day has exclusively learnt that the makers have begun approaching prominent names for the new season. Among those being considered are television couple Sharad Kelkar and his wife Keerti Gaekwad Kelkar.
The development comes days after Colors confirmed the show's return through its social media handle. However, the channel is yet to reveal the contestants, production schedule or premiere date for the upcoming season. The first season, which featured celebrity couples competing in relationship-based challenges, was hosted by Sonali Bendre and Munawar Faruqui.
According to our sources, Sharad and Keerti have been approached to participate in the second instalment. The couple, who have been married for several years, are no strangers to reality television. Sharad and Keerti previously participated together in Nach Baliye 2, making their possible return to a couples-based reality format an interesting prospect. Sharad has also hosted Pati Patni Aur Woh, giving him an earlier association with a similarly titled relationship-based format.
Apart from the Kelkars, there has been considerable buzz around Nia Sharma and her rumoured boyfriend Sikander Singh. Reports suggest that the duo has been approached for the show, although they have not signed on the dotted line yet. Their potential participation could generate considerable curiosity, particularly because the show would give audiences an opportunity to see their chemistry and dynamic in a competitive setting.
Another celebrity couple whose names are reportedly being discussed is comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chhatrath. According to reports, the makers are keen to bring Kapil and Ginni on board, recognising Kapil's popularity and the entertainment value he could bring to the format. However, there is no official confirmation of their participation at present.
The first season featured couples including Rubina Dilaik-Abhinav Shukla, Hina Khan-Rocky Jaiswal, Debina Bonnerjee-Gurmeet Choudhary, Avika Gor-Milind Chandwani, Geeta Phogat-Pawan Kumar and Swara Bhasker-Fahad Ahmad. Rubina and Abhinav eventually lifted the trophy.
With Colors now looking to make the second season bigger, the possible line-up of established television couples and high-profile names could add a fresh dose of drama, humour and relationship challenges to the show. For now, viewers will have to wait for the channel to officially unveil the contestants.
