Actress Shilpa Shinde has once again addressed the controversy surrounding her allegations against producer Sanjay Kohli. In a strongly worded message, Shilpa accused PR teams of spreading misinformation. Sharing a video, Shilpa clarified that people describing her sexual harassment case as "rape" are misrepresenting her allegations.
Shilpa wrote on her Instagram, "KEEP DOING YOUR JOB PR, but Stop spreading false narratives about the case." The actress further stated, "Sexual harassment is any unwelcome sexual behavior that makes a person feel uncomfortable, intimidated, humiliated, or offended. Unwanted physical contact, sexual comments or jokes, inappropriate messages or images, repeated unwanted advances, sexually suggestive gestures...So stop circulating your own cooked theory (sic)."
She made a video, which she started on a sarcastic note, stating how she will have to start vlogging. Shilpa clarified that people describing her sexual harassment case as "rape" are misrepresenting her allegations. She explained that if a co-actor or crew member touches someone inappropriately, it can also constitute sexual harassment. The actress wittily called out those sympathizing with Sanjay Kohli.
The actress further said how she was pressurized to hide the truth and added, "Lekin unlogon ne mere sath kya kiya ye bhi unlogon ko bolna padega, kyunki tit for tat hota hai."
She also opened up about what was mentioned in the FIR and said, "Usme (FIR copy) mein maine saaf saaf shabdon mein likha hai ki unhone mera hanth pakda, mujhe apni taraf kheecha," Shilpa said while referring to the contents of the FIR. However, she later added, "Kisi ke maai ke laal mein himmat nahi hai wo karne ki."
Shilpa concluded by slamming "publicity ke bhookhe log" and urged them to give their time to the right people and those who need it.
Talking about the controversy, it dates back to 2016, when Shilpa Shinde exited the popular sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, where she played the beloved character Angoori Bhabhi. At the time, Shilpa had levelled serious allegations against the producer of the show, Sanjay Kohli, accusing him of sexual harassment. During her recent appearance on Bharti Singh and Harssh Limbachiyaa's podcast, Shilpa stunned many by admitting that the allegations were false. Her revelation drew major backlash from her Bigg Boss co-contestant Hina Khan.
The revelation triggered widespread criticism online, with many social media users demanding legal action against Shilpa. Recently, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take action against her.
