Sumbul Touqeer Khan
Sumbul Touqeer, seen in the show Itti si khushi reflects on the medium that shaped her childhood, her growth, and her identity as an artist. Having started her journey at a young age, Sumbul considers television a source of emotional grounding and artistic discovery. "Television is where I understood what acting truly means. It gave me the space to explore emotions, connect deeply with my characters, and learn every single day."
For Sumbul, TV has a unique emotional sincerity. Long-format storytelling allows her to live with a character, understand its journey, and let audiences grow with it. "TV makes you a part of someone's everyday life," she says. "When viewers watch you daily, they start relating to your character naturally. That bond feels very personal and very real."
Even though OTT platforms have created an ocean of choices for viewers, Sumbul firmly believes that television's warmth remains irreplaceable. She observes how, even today, families return home, switch on their TVs, and unwind with the shows they love. "Television feels like home. It has comfort, familiarity, and emotions that reflect our everyday lives," she says.
Sumbul is also grateful for the discipline and professionalism TV taught her. Daily shoots, challenging timelines, and the demand for consistent performance have shaped her into a stronger, more confident actor. "Television taught me emotional endurance. You learn to be patient, disciplined, and creatively present every day," she shares.
What she cherishes most is the deep connection television builds with its audience. From children to grandparents, TV transcends generation gaps and becomes a shared space for families. "TV characters become part of people's homes. That's the beauty of this medium - it reaches everyone."
As she celebrated World Television Day, Sumbul holds a heartfelt appreciation for the platform that nurtured her dreams. "Television gave me recognition, love, and the confidence to be who I am. A big part of my heart will always belong to TV, no matter how much the world evolves."
