The Indian reality television space is set to get another major star, with 1990s Bollywood superstar Govinda reportedly in talks to participate in the second season of Rise And Fall. According to Variety India, the actor has been approached by the makers and is said to be excited about the opportunity. Negotiations are currently underway, and if the discussions conclude successfully, Govinda will make his reality television debut as a contestant.
While Govinda is no stranger to the reality TV format, having appeared as a guest on several popular shows over the years, this would mark the first time he participates in a reality show as a contestant. The actor has previously hosted the game show Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke and has made appearances on talent-based programmes including Indian Idol, Dance India Dance and Super Dancer. He has also appeared on Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss.
Govinda's most recent reality television appearance came on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, where he arrived to pick up his wife, Sunita Ahuja, following her exit from the show. Sunita had left the reality series citing health reasons.
The couple's personal life has been under considerable public scrutiny in recent months. Sunita has previously made comments about Govinda's alleged closeness with Komal Rani Swarnkar and claimed that the actor wanted to marry her. Videos of Govinda from a club in Thailand had also gone viral, adding to the speculation surrounding their relationship.
In December 2024, Sunita reportedly filed for divorce at the Bandra Family Court, citing adultery, cruelty and desertion. However, Govinda's manager recently confirmed that she had withdrawn the divorce petition and that the couple had resolved their differences amicably.
Rise And Fall is based on the British reality format created by Studio Lambert and originally hosted by Greg James. The Indian adaptation premiered last year, with businessman and television personality Ashneer Grover serving as the host. Grover, who is also known for his association with Shark Tank India, led the first season of the show.
The format places contestants in a social and strategic environment where power, alliances and decision-making play a crucial role. Govinda's potential participation could bring a new dimension to the upcoming season, particularly given his decades-long career and popularity among audiences.
The actor has remained active through events and appearances in India and internationally in recent times. If the ongoing negotiations come to fruition, Rise And Fall season two could mark a significant new chapter in Govinda's long association with the entertainment industry.
