Actor Ram Kapoor made one of the most emotional revelations of Lock Upp while opening up about his strained relationship with his family and the heartbreaking responsibility he carried during his father's final days. During a candid conversation on the reality show, Ram revealed that despite helping his father prepare for death, he remains estranged from his mother and sister, who no longer speak to him.
Sharing details about his family, Ram admitted that the emotional distance has been painful. He said his mother and sister have cut off communication with him, leaving him without a relationship with them. However, when his father was battling a terminal illness, Ram chose to stand by him through the most difficult phase of his life.
Recalling those moments, Ram revealed that his father knew the end was near and wanted to spend his final days with dignity. The actor said he played an active role in helping his father prepare for what was coming, from discussing his wishes to planning practical arrangements. Ram described it as one of the hardest responsibilities he has ever faced, saying that assisting his father in planning his own death left an emotional scar that he still carries.
He said, "My father was in Singapore, it was COVID time...Unhone Gautami ko phone kiya aur use bola mujhe Ram se baat karni hai. He had decided that he didn't want to continue this pain. He asked me without hesitation, 'Ram can you help me'. My reaction was same as others, I couldn't believe it but he managed to convince me. I did this for my father." He shared how they were admitted in the hospital and he saw his dad passing. Ram also shared that it has been 5 years, his mother and sister don't talk to him.
The actor explained that although the experience was devastating, he never questioned his decision because he wanted to honor his father's wishes. He added that witnessing a loved one confront mortality changes a person forever and taught him the true meaning of strength, compassion, and acceptance.
Later, Ram revealed to the inmates that this was a secret that even Gautami didn't know about. He even suffered from depression after his father passed away.
Ram's confession left fellow contestants visibly emotional, with several offering him support after hearing his story. His revelation also highlighted the complicated dynamics within his family, as he acknowledged that despite everything he did for his father, his relationship with his mother and sister has never recovered.
The emotional moment comes after Ram previously opened up on Lock Upp about being sexually abused at the age of 13, a confession that sparked widespread conversations about trauma and healing.
