Actor Shilpa Shinde has once again opened up about the difficult period following her exit from the popular sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. Reflecting on the controversy, the actress revealed that she faced harassment, damaging rumours and even a fake MMS scandal, which she claims deeply affected her personal and professional life.
Speaking about the aftermath of leaving the show, Shilpa alleged that she was deliberately targeted. "After I quit Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, people made my life miserable. I was harassed in many ways, and several false stories were spread about me," she said.
Recalling one of the most disturbing incidents, the actress spoke about a morphed video that was circulated online and falsely linked to her. "There was a fake MMS that went viral. It wasn't me, but people believed it. Imagine what that does to a person. It was extremely humiliating," she shared.
Shilpa said the controversy took a heavy emotional toll, as she found herself constantly trying to defend her reputation. "You keep explaining that it isn't you, but people don't always want to believe the truth. Those were very difficult days for me," she added.
The actress also claimed that the controversy impacted her career. "Professionally, I suffered because of everything that was happening around me. Instead of talking about my work, people were discussing rumours," she said, adding that the experience made her mentally stronger over time.
Shilpa became a household name after portraying Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. However, her exit from the sitcom in 2016 triggered a public dispute with the makers over contractual and payment-related issues. The controversy dominated headlines for months before the role was recast.
Despite the setbacks, Shilpa staged a successful comeback by winning Bigg Boss 11, where viewers appreciated her outspoken personality and resilience. She even mentioned that she was mired in a legal battle and had to seek bail for entering the Bigg Boss 11 house.
Looking back at that chapter, the actress said she has learned to move on but hasn't forgotten the ordeal. "I've become stronger because of everything I went through. But no one should have to face such harassment or be judged because of false information," she concluded.
Shilpa's revelations have reignited discussions about celebrity privacy, misinformation and the emotional impact of online rumours in the entertainment industry.
